Sharing Account Credentials on ShapeDiver

At ShapeDiver, safeguarding your account and maintaining the integrity of our platform are top priorities. For this reason, sharing account credentials is not permitted. This policy protects both your data and our system’s security while ensuring compliance with our agreements.

Why is Sharing Credentials Not Allowed?

Sharing your ShapeDiver account credentials with others violates several key provisions of our terms:

• The Acceptable Use Policy explicitly prohibits sharing, transferring, or providing access to an account designated for you to another person (§ 3.2)​.

• The Customer Terms of Service require customers and authorized users to keep all login credentials secure and confidential (§ 3.2(b))​.

Additionally, sharing credentials puts both customers and the platform at risk. Unauthorized account sharing may be considered a crime in many jurisdictions, including the US and the UK. Enforcing this rule protects you from potential legal and security issues. It also reduces the risk of account takeover fraud (ATO), where bad actors exploit shared or weak credentials to gain access to accounts and compromise sensitive information.

Lastly, maintaining individual accounts ensures that every customer pays their fair share. This allows us to keep service prices reasonable while continuing to invest in innovative features and platform improvements.

What Happens if Credentials are Shared?

If we detect that credentials are being shared, we will follow these steps:

1. Contact the User: We will reach out to the account holder to address the issue, remind them of the terms, and discuss alternatives.

2. Offer Alternatives: We’ll present secure and compliant options, such as upgrading the account to include multiple seats or purchasing additional seats via add-ons.

3. Take Action if Necessary: If the issue persists, we reserve the right to suspend or block the account as permitted under the Customer Terms of Service (§ 13.2(b))​.

Better Ways to Collaborate

We understand that teams often need to collaborate, and ShapeDiver offers various ways to share access to models securely. These include:

• Multi-Seat Plans: Upgrade to a subscription plan designed for teams, where each user has their own credentials.

• Add Seats: Expand your account with add-ons to provide individual access for more team members.

• Model Sharing Options: Use built-in platform features to share models between individual accounts without compromising credentials.

These alternatives enable seamless collaboration while ensuring the security and compliance of every user.
